![]() ![]() ![]() Disharoon remains an active supporter of the baseball program. Disharoon, who passed away in 2013, was an enthusiastic Virginia baseball fan. Les and Ann are well-known as long-time and generous supporters of the baseball program. In 2018, a generous commitment was made by an anonymous donor to name the Virginia baseball stadium Disaharoon Park in honor of Leslie B. He served the University in several capacities including head baseball coach and head golf coach. A 1953 graduate of the Curry School of Education, Davenport was instrumental in increasing the donations and donors to the annual fund and leading capital funding efforts for the athletics program during his tenure. He was a dear friend and avid fan of the University until his death in 2001. The playing surface – known as Davenport Field – was dedicated on Apand named in honor of Thomas “Ted” Edward Davenport who served the University of Virginia as Executive Director and Secretary/Treasurer of the Virginia Student Aid Foundation (VSAF) from 1958 until 1988. The $1 million Bermuda grass playing surface was installed during the summer of 2012 and features a state-of-the-art irrigation/drainage system, sand-based field, a FieldTurf collar behind home plate and synthetic warning track in foul territory. The ballpark includes a canopied grandstand with nearly 3,000 chairback seats encircling the playing surface, left field bleacher seats, grass hillside seating down the left-field line, 140 permanent field level seats equipped with a lounge and seven suites available for lease by fans and corporate sponsors. The seating capacity expanded to 19,200, while the Tower provided Liberty Athletics with 18 luxury suites, a full media center, and expanded concessions and restrooms for the West side of the stadium. The stadium experienced a major facelift prior to the 2010 season with the installation of more seating and the five-story Williams Stadium Tower.
